Macatoo Christmas Newsletter December 2009 |
|
Dear All As we get ready to welcome our new guests for a busy Christmas and New Year festive season in camp it’s elephants rather than reindeer stealing all the headlines here with very big herds providing some excellent sightings.
Summer is hot and the build-up of rain clouds, static electricity and humidity has led to some sultry evenings and beautiful sunsets both in Macatoo and at Selby’s our new fly camp. We’ve had early rain in the form of one or two gigantic storms and all indications are that next year’s flood will be even bigger than this year’s record-breaker. Guests continue to be lucky with leopards, although you might have more chance of seeing one with Bongwe or Sekongo than with John!
Danny has taken Chief into town for his well-deserved retirement. After 12 years of wonderful service he will be fondly missed but we have four new horses - Champion, Merlin, Salute and Bismark - to get to know. Mod has taken on the role of Barn Manager, and congratulations to him on doing such a superb job. He is passionate about the horses and it shows in the way he cares for them.
2010 is looking like the best ever year for AHBS with the promise of wonderful game-viewing and some spectacular riding adventures. The guest experience in Macatoo and fly camp will be better than ever with lots of new and exciting surprises in store. Bongwe and Sekongo are on fantastic form and are continuing to take a leading role in camp. In the office Kate and Hilary are sadly moving on but we have a brilliant and experienced new team joining in the New Year. Country Life will be featuring us in next week’s edition after one of their journalists came to stay with us. It’s out on 16th December and will be a good read. Whether you are a new client or an old friend come and visit us at Macatoo and discover why the experts voted us the best horse safari in Africa. We look forward to seeing you. With lots of love from all of us at Horseback. Happy Christmas and very best wishes for the New Year. | |
